Fashion Icon Friday
Happy Friday Y’all! Every Friday will be “Fashion Icon Friday” on Babes With
Bows! This week I picked they one and only Jackie Kennedy. Jackie, in my eyes,
is pretty much the all around perfect women. She’s the perfect role model for
women all ages, class, poise, and beauty. I feel there are some great fashion
items that are a must have that Jackie brought to the world.
1.
Own a great pair of sunglasses! Jackie is known
for her big “O” shaped sunglasses; they became a part of who she was. Find a
pair of great glasses that put the finishing touch on any great outfit!
2.
Wear Pearls! If there is one thing you can take
away from this post it is that you can ALWAYS WEAR PEARLS. Pearls are the
perfect go to earring, necklace, bracelet, broach, anything pearl! They match
with everything, a nice outfit, or even sweat pants and t-shirts! The great thing about Jackie and her
pearls is that some of hers weren’t even real!
3.
Black and White is always an option. When in doubt a black or white outfit
with some accessorizing is always an option.
4.
The KISS method (Keep It Simple Stupid) – Less
is more! Look I know all of y’all taking the time to read this blog are classy
people, so lets be real here. The more you junk up an outfit with lots of
patterns and textures and sparkles are just going to make you look trashy…no
one wants that. Stay classy just like Jackie O.!
5.
A good Jacket is always a good idea. I
personally have a black trench coat and a khaki colored trench that I have had
for almost 5 years and I don’t plan on getting rid of them anytime soon. A good
jacket that you can wear all seasons is always a must! Both my jackets are
fitted so they emphasize my figure great.
6.
Make sure it fits! One of my biggest pet peeves
ever is when people wear clothes that clearly don’t fit them! That’s what tailors
and seamstresses are for, to make your clothes fit you better!
7.
Put a scarf on it! Scarf’s a great way to
accessorize in all seasons! I love wearing a maxi dress with a colorful patterned
scarf and a great pair of sandals is just a perfect outfit for summer! But of
course scarf’s are a must for fall and winter.

Shrimp with Avocado-Mango Salsa (heaven on earth)
Every time my boyfriend comes home from college I always try
and make a really nice dinner for him at least one night out of his visit. This was my most recent choice and might
I say it was absolutely mouth watering!
INGREDIENTS
Vegetable
oil cooking spray
8
cups baby spinach
1
cup couscous
1
lb medium shrimp, shelled and deveined
1/2
cup chopped fresh cilantro, divided
1
tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
3/4
teaspoon salt, divided
1
large mango, peeled and diced
1
medium avocado, diced
1
medium tomato, diced
1/4
cup chopped red onion
1/2
jalapeño chile, seeded and finely chopped
1
tablespoon fresh lime juice
PREPARATION
Heat grill. Fold four
18-inch-long pieces of foil in half; unfold and coat inside with cooking spray.
Place 2 cups spinach in center of 1 half of each piece of foil. Combine
couscous with 1/4 cup water; divide evenly among packets, placing on top of
spinach. Combine shrimp, 1/4 cup cilantro, oil and 1/2 tsp salt in a bowl.
Divide shrimp evenly among packets, placing next to couscous. Fold foil to
close and crimp edges to seal; place on grill; close lid; cook until packets
are fully puffed, 10 minutes. Combine remaining 1/4 cup cilantro with remaining
1/4 tsp salt, mango, avocado, tomato, onion, jalapeño and lime juice in a bowl.
Carefully cut foil to open; stir contents; garnish with salsa before serving.
Enjoy!
Stay Classy!
XOXO

Gotta Have It!
A monogram hat is a MUST HAVE for summer. If you’re a
preppy, southern girl like me chances are you already have one…or more then
one! Maybe you’ll prefer one to the other, but honestly I get pretty good use
out of both! My monogram sunhat is
just the perfect southern belle accessory. I love wearing mine to the beach or
the pool. My monogram baseball I do get a little bit more use out of only
because I can wear it when I go running or hiking, pretty much any outdoor
activity, and of course if I’m having a bad hair day! My opinion? You gotta
have it, so go get you one!
Stay Classy!

OOTD
Today's Outfit:
Michael Kors Mid-Size Cream/Horn Acetate Runway Watch
Dress from Page 6 (Baxter Location)
Leopard Cardigan from Francesca's
Necklace from Francesca's (Both Carolina Place Mall Location)
Eye on the Prize
It is hard to just blow $200 on shoes…for some people.
What’s my secret? I try and set a goal, I pick one item that I really, really,
really love and I set it as my goal to save up enough to claim my prize!
So what’s my goal this week? Tory Burch jelly bow ballet
flats - $125 (shown in raspberry sorbet). I mean look at them; they have all
the perfect essentials for a preppy girl like me! Not only are they pink and
have bows, but also what I love is the fact that they are jelly material. Jelly
shoes are perfect because they are water resistant, they can be the prefect
alternative to wearing rain boots. You wont have to worry about stepping in
puddles and ruining the fabric! I say a defiantly a smart purchase to make!
They also come in Black, Flame Red, Tory Navy, along with Raspberry Sorbet
(shown above)
Stay Classy!
XOXO
